CHARACTERISTICS OF AUTHORITY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1.It can be delegated<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.It is used to achieve organizational goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.It gives right of decision making and to get the decision carried out<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.It is a key to managerial function<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.It is attached with position, is legal, legitimate and formal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.It is a relationship between two individual<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.A subordinate obeys the superior by virtue of his authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.Gives power to superior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.It is not unlimited, limits are defined in advance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25baWhen authority is given to manager, he possess responsibility<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a obligation\/requirement of a subordinate to whom duty has been assigned to perform\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is the duties and activities assigned to a position or to an executive\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is the obligation\/requirement of a subordinate to perform the duty as required by his superior\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHARACTERISTICS OF RESPONSIBILITY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1.It can not exist without authority and vice versa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.It originates from superior-subordinate relationship<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.It is absolute and can not be delegated<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.He who holds the responsibility, is accountable to his superiors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.It is an obligation of a subordinate to perform duty assigned to him<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.It is a derivative of authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.It flows upward while authority flows downward<\/p>\n\n\n\n
