{"id":538,"date":"2024-06-29T01:40:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T20:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/?p=538"},"modified":"2025-01-11T10:26:28","modified_gmt":"2025-01-11T04:56:28","slug":"dyke-or-bund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/29\/dyke-or-bund\/","title":{"rendered":"DYKE OR BUND"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"894\" height=\"673\" src=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-224524.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-539\" style=\"width:655px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-224524.png 894w, https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-224524-300x226.png 300w, https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-224524-768x578.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 894px) 100vw, 894px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dyke\/Bund for tank or tank farm area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It is required to restrict the spread of leaking material to safely contain within its periphery and to restrict the surface area of leaking material in order to reduce evaporation and for ease of fire fighting or other emergency control activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 If there is no dyke or bund, leaky material may come out on road, go in the plant and make more damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Dyke wall should be safe, sound and leak proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Its floor should have slope with a pit in corner to provide discharge valve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Discharge valve should only be open when the rain water or leak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Volume of dyke should be slightly more than the biggest tank inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Wall height should be less than 2 meter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Steps should be provided to go inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Acid proof lining to be provided when needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Dyke is always required if the liquid is stored at the atmospheric or low pressure and temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 For highly volatile gases or gases at high pressure, dyke is not much useful and wire fencing is provided at a safe distance.
