One of them is painting of HAZCHEM panel on tanker body in specific dimensions &amp; at specified locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The vehicle carrying hazardous chemical should have \u2018Emergency Information Panel\u2019 on both sides and on back. In addition, relevant UN Hazard class label\u00a0 has to be displayed on the front part of the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The Emergency Information Panel provides information in the event of an emergency. It indicates the correct technical name of the substance being transported. Its UN number, Hazchem code and UN Hazard class label. The panel also provides telephone number for contact incase of an emergency, and for special advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Each term in the emergency information panel is explained as shown below<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Left side top of rectangular panel shows correct technical name of the chemical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Below technical name, UN number, Hazchem &amp; emergency telephone number are listed one below the other respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. On right side top of the panel, a class label alongwith subsidiary risk label (if any) is shown. 4. Fire or spillage \u2013 select 1 to 4 as indicated in the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Select either \u2018DILUTE\u2019 or \u2018CONTAIN\u2019 aspect and accordingly decide respiratory protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Last aspect is on \u2018EVACUATION\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 ADR No: it is an Agreement concerning carriage of Dangerous goods by Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 This European agreement was arrived at Geneva by 19 European countries for the safety of international transport by road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It deals with the classification of hazardous substance, their packaging, loading and unloading, transportation and its equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It gives hazard identification numbers like UN hazard class number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Specific gravity: it is the ratio of density of material to the density of water. Lighter material will float and heavier will sink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It is useful for spill and fire control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Vapor density: It is the vapor weight per unit volume. In MSDS, it is given ratio of density of a gas or vapor to the density of air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Boiling point: it is the temperature at which material changes from liquid to gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Melting point: it is the temperature at which a solid material melts and becomes a liquid. This information is useful for storage and handling purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Freezing point: it is the temperature at which a liquid material freezes and becomes solid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Vapor pressure: it is the pressure upon atmosphere of vapor of material at a fixed temperature. Higher vapor pressure indicates higher concentration and therefore higher hazard to fire or inhalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Solubility: ability of a material to dissolve in water or another liquid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Flash point: it is the lowest temperature at which a material gives off enough vapor near its surface to form a flammable air vapor mixture so that it can be ignited if spark is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TDG Flammability:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transport of Dangerous Goods classifies the materials according to their flammability as under;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 2.1 flammable gas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 3\u00a0\u00a0 flammbale liquid<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u20224.1 flammbale solid<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 4.2 spontaneous combustible material<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 4.3 material which gives off a flammble gas on contact with water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chemical Hazard Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Chemical labels: National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) Fire Rating<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Hazard Information on the Internet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"813\" height=\"680\" src=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-193929.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-193929.png 813w, https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-193929-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-21-193929-768x642.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 813px) 100vw, 813px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety and Risk Phrases:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Regulation 9 of Chemical Hazards Information and Packaging gives requirements for the labeling of substance and preparation dangerous for supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It includes name and address of supplier, information of substance, symbols and safety and risk phrases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 These phrases are represented by number and their specific meaning indicating type of hazard in brief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety Phrases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S1 \u2013 Keep locked up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S2 \u2013 keep out of reach of children<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S4 \u2013keep away from living quarters<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S7- keep container tightly closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S8- Keep container dry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022  S9- keep container in well ventilated place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S22- do not breath dust<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 S24- avoid contact with skin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Risk Phrases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R1- explosive when dry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R2- risk of explosion by shock, friction, fire or other source of ignition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R3-extreme risk of explosion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R4-Forms very sensitive explosive metallic compounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R5- heating may cause an explosion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R6-Explosive with or without contact or air<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 R7- May cause fire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MSDS SECTION-9 1.
