Select safer technology<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Select safer siting of chemical industry for minimum lose to men, material and environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Design and construct the factory with all safety precautions from the very beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Workplace hazard should be controlled by good engineering design, SOPs etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. All requisite safety devices, fittings, instruments etc. must be provided and well maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Workers must be properly trained for safe operation of the plant and their role in emergency planning and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Safe transportation and handling of hazardous chemicals within and out side factory premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. Safe disposal of hazardous waste within and outside factory premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. Factors creating effects are;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>types of concentration of chemical<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combined effect of mixtures<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nature of exposure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Routes of entry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Fire and explosion hazard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heat generation due to chemical reaction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open flame<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Radiant heat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Static electricity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Biological hazards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"673\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-220255.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-220255.png 673w, https:\/\/ehs-hub.contentstudioo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-220255-300x297.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 673px) 100vw, 673px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It refers to plants, insects, animals and human pathogens that pose a potential risk to the health of humans, animals and to the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occupational exposure is possible in bio-laboratory work, hospitals, nursing or medical research etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biological infections and parasitic diseases are caused by contact with domestic, laboratory and other animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disease caused by biological agents are; anthrax, herps virus infection, hepatitis, rabies etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Safety and Control Measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Written plan including instructions for awareness, emergency action, SOPs etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees should be immunized by effective vaccine if available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-placement medical examination<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GHK and quick de-contamination of place and environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use of PPEs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Display of biohazard symbols Effective filtration of room air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atomic radiation hazards<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>X-ray, NDT, nuclear plant etc. can cause severe health hazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Preventive and control measures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>      <strong>Six basic principles;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           (i) Elimination of substance or process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           (ii) Substitute of safer alternative<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           (iii) Distance, guard, enclosure, isolation, shielding of hazardous process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           (iv) Ventilation, general and local exhaust<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>            (v) PPEs <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>            (vi) Personal hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Emergency control procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>          1.
